Pray Heaven Weighted Prayers

There comes a time when polite, well-crafted, "proper" prayers just don't cut it anymore. When the memorized platitudes need to be replaced with the cries of a hungry, desperate heart. The descriptions of Heaven in scripture don't show a stoic Chief of Operations running a structured board meeting. They show a Father welcoming his kids home, rejoicing in the reunion, and throwing a party that can't be matched here on Earth.

I don't see propriety. I see dancing, and shouting, and bowing.

Loud thunder.

Roaring waterfalls.

Rushing wind.

Harps and trumpets.

Uncounted angels crying, "Holy! Holy! Holy!"

So here I am. Once again.

Once again I'm learning to pray prayers heavy with the weight of heaven, to not flinch from the eternal words Jesus spoke or water them down to avoid disappointment. I’m learning to lean into every promise, grab them with both hands, and refuse to let go. I’m refusing to worry what people will think. I fell in love with Jesus a long, long time ago, and when you’re in love, you talk about the one you adore.

So, I'm praying for healing, for myself and others. And when I do, I visualize the scarred hands of Jesus reaching into every broken and diseased body, untangling every twisted tumor, knotted DNA marker, and perverted cell pattern. I see His scarred hands filling the void with brand new, life-giving DNA.

I'm praying loud prayers that rattle the unseen realm; big prayers that call on God to be a big God.

It's risky to pray these kinds of prayers. What do you do if the answers don't seem to come?

Or what if God stepped into the room, touched your body, and all disease disappeared? Would you throw your arms into the air and scream of the goodness of God?

Would you question it?

Try to quantify or qualify it?

Explain or excuse it away?

Or would you dare to dance on Death's grave and tell him his work here is delayed?

Would you apologize if someone else didn't get a miracle?

Or would you hug those still waiting for their healing, trusting that the goodness and power of God would leak out of you and seep into them?

Could you, would you take their hand and trusting God to use you to infuse them with this newfound, deep trust?

Would you stand on every platform, tabletop, and rooftop and yell the good news that He has come for all of us! Not someday, but today!

Sometimes taking back what’s been stolen requires an unseen violence that wrests the goods out of the hands of resistance. I’m convinced it’s part of holy vengeance. I envision the vibrations of your worship radiating a force field around you that echoes into eternity. I see the sound waves pushing back the mutated cells and making room for new, healthy, plump cells.

I dare you to shout your prayers and declare your healing. Scream your needs, and wants, and praise, and worship. Lean hard on the faith you have today and trust it to multiply and expand until it changes the way you see, hear, walk, talk, worship, and love.

I’m screaming for you and for me because sometimes you move back the plan of hell with the sound of your voice.

From DEEPER | Personally Encounter God as Your Good Father:

Pour out our hearts in terrifying, risky prayers, and then be ready to live

in the mystery—or the revealing—if He moves in ways we don’t expect.

May your prayers be heavy with heaven's weight, and may you find the courage to shout, trust, and love through and in every moment.

Amen.
